About Me

I am Jonathan Ullmer, a school leadership and former school improvement consultant with a diverse background across national and international education settings. With over 20 years of experience in the field, I have built a career around school development, strategic leadership, and a relentless pursuit of school performance and educational excellence.

​Beyond my professional work, I'm committed to giving back to the wider education community. I have led over 50 school and community projects in the Southend area and, as Chair of Love Southend, have brought local organisations together to drive urban regeneration. I also actively contribute to the school leadership forum and school improvement community at Excellence in Schools, sharing practical resources with school leaders worldwide.

Looking ahead, I'm always interested to see latest impacts in education through new initiatives, collaborations and practical resources for the global school leadership forum. My goal remains the same: to give students, and the school leaders who support them, the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive.

My work has been marked by significant school improvement outcomes. I have led two schools from unsatisfactory to Outstanding, with inspectors commending our school leadership and the pace of school development. I also played a pivotal role in establishing two international colleges in London and Boston as part of a growing international education network, and our efforts were recognised with the Queen's Award for Enterprise.

My commitment to school improvement extends beyond the classroom. I have authored articles and books on teaching methodology, school leadership and community engagement, sharing practical, tested insights with educators worldwide. I have been honoured with the Order of the British Empire and the Queen's Award for Enterprise in recognition of this work.
